Good morning from Jackpot Media City…heading towards the end of 2015 and looking forward to a racy 2016 🙂
David Bishop shot past Steve Cram at the Derby midweek 5k run – David was 2nd overall in an utterly supersonic time of 15:15 #fast
Then we have Claire Pickersgill who also scored a 2nd place at the Denby Dale 6 (miles) possibly-one-of-the-hilliest-runs-in-the-world at the weekend in a time of 45:19.
I believe there are a few shows (races) on over Christmas – the last 2015 news bulletin will be next week…stay tuned.
Jackpot Racing would like to congratulate some of their elite athletes on their recent news.
Adam Bowden has been confirmed on British Triathlon’s Podium Squad. That puts him alongside Alistair and Jonny in the race to Rio. Whilst Tom Bishop is on the Podium Potential Squad, breathing down their necks.
Its a similar story in the ladies, with both Lois Banks and Heather Sellars appearing on the Podium Potential Squad as well.
Mika Brown started the weekend off for us again over in sunny and warm Australia (freezing here Mika) with the 5km Spring into Summer run knocking off a massive 20 seconds on an already extremely fast run, winning the race overall in 16:32 minutes. Sublime to ridiculous! Absolutely fantastic going Mika 🙂
Back in Blighty four of our Jackpotters were out in the grey and cold conditions at Castle Coombe for the BUCS Duathlon Championships over the 2 mile run, 10 mile bike and 2 mile run course (BUCS for us older ones = British Universities + Colleges Sport). Representing their universities, our Jackpotters results figured highly as individuals. Kieran Savage who has been focussing on cycling recently pulled a rabbit out of the hat with an almighty run either side of the bike and finished 10th overall in a time of 42:57. Kieran Hill was 90th in 47:06 and Tom Linton-Neal finished 97th in a time of 47:38 (fantastic bike Kieran and Tom!). Our very own Kathryn Dickinson finished superbly well in 29th finishing in 54:03. Reads as a really exciting race. A few pictures below.

Keep safe all, keep racing 🙂
Mika Brown has come over from the UK for a stint with my squad to improve his tri performances.
Mika won the 5km Spring into Summer run yesterday overall with a 16:32min effort. A 20sec PB, breaking his best time from 4weeks ago which was also a PB.
Kieran Hill had fun in the mud yesterday at the Cirencester Off Road Duathlon over the 2 miles run, 10 mile bike 2 mile run course…and just look at the state of him! Kieran was second fastest in both runs and finished 10th overall and 7th in his age group (a large one – 17-39…might of well have been 17-100). Great going Keiran 🙂
Kieran – a good start to Movember
Back up ‘norf and we head to the Leeds Abbey Dash or Abbey Splash as it was better know yesterday morning. The weather was just terrible. The rain was bouncing, the wind was howling…it was not pb weather nor conditions. But our man Rich Knell-Moore put in a sterling performance finishing the 10k in 39:15. Over 9,000 runners took to the streets to race yesterday. Hats off to you 🙂
Quick hop back over to Australia where Mika has brought in a new discipline of stair climbing up skyscrapers. The Eureka stair claim took in 1642 steps over 88 floors at the Eureka Tower in Melbourne. Sounds bonkers and brilliant all in one go!
A little cold in these waters but over in Australia the new (old?) tri season has commenced. Craig Boggon put in a blinder of a race at the Active Tri Melbourne Series in the Sprint race…175th…ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIFTH out of the water (sans wetsuit – whilst on his travels, Craig has no wetsuit due to the weight of them)…and borrowing an aluminium bike, Craig motored like a jet engine to 64th overall after the bike section and then finally finished 22nd overall after the run and 2nd in age group! What a race! Even Craig looks surprised from the photo below 😉
