Jackpot hit the Jackpot!

Another bumper weekend was had by Jackpot Racing starting on Saturday with Ady Stott at the York Racecourse parkrun smashing out a PB with 20:01 over the 5k course. Next up is the sub 20 we hear…

Onto Sunday at the 2014 ETU Triathlon European Cup in Madrid, Tom Bishop put in a storming performance for the standard distance race.  Tom finished 6th overall though was hopeful for a podium finish. Having ridden 35k of the bike solo, Tom closed down the gap on the run still finishing with a solid result and hindered by tri suit issues! Next stop…Alanya next weekend…with a new suit!

Back to Yorkshire and the Ilkley Triathlon with a WIN from Mika Brown on the infamous hilly course.  Mika took gold in 57:14 with 1 minute 13 seconds ahead of second place!  FANTASTIC! And Ady Stott makes another racing appearance in the same weekend racing in a mixed team pushing out a fast bike leg of 28:30!

Then over to Harewood House and the Brownlee Sprint Triathlon where Ben Garrard popped a 2nd in his age group position and 11th overall!  Ben came out of the swim 2nd in his wave, then a long uphill grassy run to the bike which was on closed roads.  The run consisted of grassy and hard packed tracks around the estate, including two climbs which reduced some athletes to walking…but not Ben!  Ben pushed on to the uphill finish feeling strong all the way.  A much recommended triathlon by all accounts.

Lastly over to the York Rally Sportive where Jenni Muston paced well through the 100k course up into the North Yorkshire Moors finishing joint first lady with her training partner in crime!

Another glorious weekend for Jackpot!

The weekend started off with another win for Jackpot Racing on Saturday with Andrew Whiteley racing at the Buttermere Triathlon in the Lake District.  Not for the faint hearted, the swim was 1500m, the bike a hilly 44k and the run a tough 13k.  In Andrew’s own words, ‘it was probably the toughest race I’ve ever done’.

Andrew came out the water in first position and maintained and extended this position on the bike, taking in a technical course on the Honister pass and Whinnlatter pass.

Andrew described the off road run as technical and hilly.  Looks tremendously hilly from the website photos and also looks spectacular!  The last half of the run Andrew dug in deep to take the almighty win!

Then back to Yorkshire on Sunday and the Leeds Triathlon at Roundhay Park.  The water was described as an exotic 16 degrees!  Not sure where they tested the temperature.  After much defrosting, Matt Pears came in first for Jackpot followed by Ben Garrard.  Matt finished 6th overall and 2nd in his age group (25-29) and Ben finished 16th and 4th in his age group (35-39) .  Some cracking swim and bike splits with the men (tips greatly received).  Jenni Muston finished 1st in the ladies camp retaining her crown, 7 minutes ahead of the next lady (no age group given as she is a lady)!

Worlds…Sundowner…Allerthorpe…Helvellyn…25 m TT…Cotswolds Sprint

Where to start…

Worlds 70.3 Mont Tremblant: Colin Hill and Chris Brown represented Team GB in their age groups today at the Worlds 70.3 Championship.  Colin finished in a time of speedy 4:20:46, coming in at 11th position in his age category and Chris 5:28:06, finishing 119 in his age category.  Hopefully we will have more news from the finishers later!

Sundowner: The Middle Distance at Allerthorpe and Jonny McLean strikes silver in his first race at this distance and what a start!  Jonny finished in a fast 4:24:30, minutes behind the first finisher – apparently ‘not sold on this silly long stuff’…Jonny, you are so close to striking Gold!

Allerthorpe Sprint: And Jackpot Racing see another silver! This time from Mathew Pears in a time of 1:12:12 – 40 seconds behind first man…so so so close.  Seems to have been a long swim however…

Crikey…getting out of breath writing this…it’s been action packed…

Helvellyn next up: Rich Knell-Moore and Jenni Muston at the start line in cold waters at Ullswater on a glorious day. Out of the swim, onto the bike…Jenni was robbed of her race with a broken ratchet on her gears giving her two gears only to use, headed back to base and ran up Helvellyn in exasperation…Rich had a storming race finishing in a very fine 4:21.

THEN we have the 25 mile TTers – Kieran Savage in a 55.41 and Ady Stott (having raced Rubicon last weekend) in 57.48 – awesome times!

AND the Cotswolds Sprint: Kieran Hill put in a fantastic performance there today, finishing with more Silver for the Jackpot Racing family.  Kieran was just 28 seconds behind the winner, with a 9:48 swim, 28:15 bike and a cracking 17:29 run!

FANTASTIC going! Many congratulations!

Jackpot in Yorkshire and Edmonton (CA)

The last Sunday in August of 2014 started early at 7am in Yorkshire for some of our athletes at the Rubicon Newby Hall Middle Distance Triathlon.  The conditions were close to perfect with sun though a little windy.

First to finish for Jackpot was Ady Stott in a time of 4:59:54 – just clocking in under the 5 hour mark.  Next to finish was China Clarke – this was China’s first middle distance triathlon and what a start to that distance.  China finished in 5:02:04 – guessing next up is the 5 hour barrier to break, China?

Colin Hill used the race to sharpen up the fast twitch muscles ahead of the 70.3 World Champs in Mont Tremblant next week in Canada.  With a planned DNF, Colin cruised around the course dropping out at the planned point in 6th position, going through the first 10k of the run in 41 minutes.  All bodes well for Colin next week – GOOD LUCK!

Across to Canada, Mika Brown represented Great Britain in the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Edmonton in the Sprint distance, smashing out a time of 1:06:19, just minutes behind the leader.  Mika was the 5th Brit to finish in his age category (20-24 years).

STORMING performances today!
